Bowen therapy

What is Bowen therapy?

Bowen therapy works on the fascia, the soft connective tissue that wraps around the body.  Imagine that it’s like a Spiderman suit that expands and contracts, layering the muscles and every other structure of the body. In recent years the importance of this facial sheath is only just being understood.  It carries information around the body.  The relationship between good health and the proper functioning of the fascia is extremely important.

Whether you want to train hard and recover effectively or have tools to deal with long hours commuting or sitting at a desk, Bowen therapy might be great for you.

The technique is a very gentle soft tissue therapy. It uses a gentle rolling action over soft tissue structures, potentially creating a signal to the brain.  It is a soft and nurturing treatment with no  forceful manipulation.  It is performed on the superficial and deep fascia.

21st Century science is beginning to demonstrate a non-intrusive approach with no adjustment or manipulation can aid a balance in the body.

Bowen therapy treatments

The treatment consists of sequences of small moves at varying pressures at specific sites on the body. Therapists use light, maneuvers of muscle, tendon or ligament .

When we treat the body with a touch therapy, we are in fact "treating the brain" and not creating tissue change with our touch as we've always thought.
