Acupuncture and Tui Na Massage
Carol's interest in acupuncture began after 10 years of practising Qi gong and successful acupuncture treatments for chronic RSI. The focus learned in Qi Gong influenced her development as a practitioner. Beyond the holistic principles and practice of acupuncture, she is interested in the client/practitioner relationship and mindful practice. She listens and develops treatments in collaboration with clients. Acupuncture complements Western medicine, and after a placement at Gateway Clinic, one of her aims has been to increase the understanding and integration of acupuncture within the NHS.
After qualifying with a BSc in acupuncture, she volunteered as an acupuncturist at St Joseph's Hospice in Hackney and, in 2015, began her employment at St Christophers Hospice. Here she developed the Acupuncture provision for patients, which she now runs. Combining her love of travel with acupuncture, she has also volunteered at the Ananda Nagar Acupuncture Institute in India.
Carol extended her clinical and professional practice by continuing at Westminster University to complete her Masters (MSc) gaining a merit.
Carol's commitment to professional development is evident in her work at an NHS-funded Hospice. She is DBS-cleared to work with children and vulnerable adults, keeps up to date with safeguarding, and requires CPD for her role at the Hospice.
Carol's dedication to her practice is evident in her additional qualifications in Tuina massage, cupping, electro-acupuncture, Yuan facial acupuncture, ear acupuncture and NADA systems. This broad knowledge allows her to help with many differing symptoms over many years, increasing the options for treatments for each individual.
Carol is a member of the Acupuncture Fertility Network.
Carol has also studied harmonic resonance techniques, using double-pronged acoustic resonators of different frequencies on specific acupuncture points.
How can acupuncture help?
Many scientific theories about acupuncture include reducing inflammation, affecting heart rate, stimulating or inhibiting pain recognition areas in the brain, altering the transmission of neural pathways, etc. Carol's patients at the Hospice feel the difference in their problems after they see her. Being treated holistically is unusual for many of them, and belief is not required. Carol’s clients see her for holistic treatments in support of
